Meet the Team
Josh Martin
Founder of Martin Ironworks and Martin Automotive, Josh brings 25+ years experience to the table. His professional certifications include several welding certs, motorcycle mechanic’s certs from MMI, Air conditioning repair certification and more. He was a major part of the first and second generation Ford Raptor development program and has thousands of miles under his belt in race and race support vehicles throughout the US and Baja California, Mexico.
A long time love for vans, far-out culture and good music keep the ideas fresh and the shop bouncing. In his spare time he is a full time father, chicken keeper, dog lover, artist, iron sculptor and gardener. He lends his industrial and mechanical style and eye for design to everything he works with, such as the vegetable planters that are made out of old BFG tires.
With the confidence to turn his passions from a hobby to a career and enough tools to fill a Snap-On truck, you can count on him to get your project on the road!
Max Herndon
Coming up on 20 years experience in the automotive and off-road industry, Max also dabbles in jumping on the computer from time to time and building business relationships. Starting in his Uncle’s speed shop while in High School, he learned the fundamentals of working in an auto shop: Basics of sweeping, what it means to “take out the trash, rook” and how to swear.
Over the years he has landed himself several dream jobs, including a position at Rigid Industries LED Lighting as the Sponsorship Coordinator. This is where he earned his chops working with the biggest names in the off-road industry, earning much respect for the stars of the sport. Around 2017, he started participating in Off-Road racing whenever possible as part of the chase crew for Scanlon Motorsports Group and three-time NORRA Mexican 1000 class champions, Anderson Racing.
As the General Manager for Martin Ironworks, he does all the important things around the shop: Basic sweeping, taking out the trash, and swearing. If you get a call from Martin Autoworks, there’s a good chance it’s him.
